Disneyland? Nope. Close - Milk Bar! Because isn't everyone's dream to find the place where all the sugar and sweets in the world are wrapped up into the most indescribably delicious treats? Okay, so maybe it's not everyone's dream, but no worries, it CAN be!

Milk Bar is founded and owned by Christina Tosi. If you watch Master Chef on FOX (last season), you'll know exactly whom I'm talking about. If not, she's only a two-time James Beard award winner, #nbd. :) She also founded the dessert program at Momofuku, you know, founded by the one and only David Chang... Come on! Okay, we'll leave Momofuku for another post.

Milk Bar in Las Vegas sits right next to Momofuku in the Cosmopolitan Hotel (and has a connecting door for when you order dessert at Momofuku, it magically appears straight from Milk Bar!). The menu is listed on a chalkboard that's packed with as much personality as its delectable treats. Let's take a closer look:

Cookies! Klossies! Special Combos! Cakes! Cake Truffles! Pie! Soft Serve! MilkShakes! MilkQuakes! Fancy Shakes! Fancy Hot Drinks!

OMG!

As if I wasn't already in love by all the goodies listed, I found someone that uses "!" as excessively as I do! It's like you speak my language, Christina! #instantbffs #notreallybutiwish

Unfortunately, in the 24 hours I was in Vegas, I did not get to try one of everything. However, we did order the Greatest Hits for $21. SO WORTH IT! (Plus an extra cookie and possibly a piece of cake when we had dinner at Momofuku. Possibly.) I will be back to try the rest. WITHOUT A DOUBT!

Greatest Hits:

Compost cookie: Basically exactly what it's named. It literally has some of everything you could possibly imagine in cookie - pretzels, potato chips, coffee, oats, graham cracker, butterscotch and chocolate chips. *Mind blown* this is the perfect combination of salty meets sweet. So if you are a lover of chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered popcorn, or anything salty covered in chocolate, this is the cookie for you! It's amazing you can put so much into one cookie and yet still achieve a balance where I'm not diving for a glass of water to balance my sweet or salty craving.

Crack pie slice: Whatever you do, don't read the ingredients on the box. And if you do, just remember, it's worth every single bite. Crack pie is a buttery filling on top of a toasted oat crust. And by buttery, I mean like BUTTERY. Like that sweet, smooth, silky rich buttery flavor that's reminiscent of a Scottish shortbread cookie. Imagine THAT flavor, but with a gooey, but not quite sticky texture, that your teeth can just sink into...mmmmm…. pair that on top of a toasted oat crust that is dense, slightly crisp, but perfectly mellows that buttery flavor with every bite. Before you know it, it’s gone. Buy the whole pie; the slice will be gone in the blink of a bite!

Chocolate malt truffles: I’ll admit, I was a skeptic going in. They look like cake balls, and cake balls scare me. But, I’ll be the first to admit, I was wrong. These cake truffles are what dreams are made of. OMG. Image the best

chocolate cake you’ve ever had in your life – now imaging the best dark chocolate truffle you’ve ever eaten in your life – smash them together, and you have chocolate malt truffles… literally drooling. They look is of a giant truffle covered in cake crumbs, that weighs less than a truffle. Biting into the cake truffle is smooth and creamy, like the inside of a truffle, but light and fluffy like taking a bite out of a cake. How is this possible!?! Each bite is packed with the purest, richest, most chocolaty flavor…ever.

Cereal milk soft serve: I love cereal. Breakfast is by far my favorite meal (unless you count dessert, but then it’s really just a tie). Can ice cream really taste like the milk at the bottom of your bowl after you finish your bowl of cornflakes? Yes, yes it can. Exactly like it. As if my mind wasn’t blown to pieces already… there’s something that MilkBar achieves that I’ve found rare – when what you say I’m going to eat, is EXACTLY that, but BETTER. The best part about this soft serve is the cornflakes hidden at the bottom of the bowl, ensuring the prefect ratio of ice cream to toppings.

*ADDED* Cornflake-chocolate-chip-marshmallow cookie: Salty and sweet strikes again! Gooey, crunchy, soft in each and every bite. The marshmallow was subtle throughout, making sure to not overpower the chocolate chips. The cornflakes played in perfectly to provide that crunch and hint of salt to balance out the cookie.

SUGAR HIGH!!! On life! :)

My experience at MilkBar far exceeded my wildest expectations. There was a lot of hype building up to this trip watching more seasons of Master Chef than I can count and previewing the menu and Instagram photos non-stop.

I hope with this post, you will all learn from my mistakes – Buy the WHOLE PIE, buy all the COOKIES and CAKE TRUFFLES, and try the rest of the menu – let me know how it is and what to try next time!

PS: I heard the Milk Quakes were a Las Vegas only item (may have changed by now) definitely make sure to give it a try if you’re there! I saw a few people order it and it looks like the delicious soft serve with the toppings mixed in… yummmm

And remember… dessert is a second stomach. There is ALWAYS room.
