LOVE: My eyes often roll back in my head when I eat something indescribably delicious. I always plan my next meal before finishing my current meal. Obnoxiously loud mmmm… sounds are normal while eating in public. I plan my next travel adventure based on what I’m craving to eat.
I went to college (too many years ago!) in San Francisco and absolutely fell in LOVE... Everyone says college is a great place to meet your significant other - they were not lying. I fell hard, fast, and forever, in LOVE with FOOD. All food. Exotic. Traditional. Eating out. Home cooked. Michelin. Raw. It doesn't matter. I will try anything twice.
I started writing a few years ago as a means to journal my travel food adventures. I would come home after an adventure half-way across the world with thousands of pictures, but by the time I moved on to the next adventure, the details of the past were just a pleasant but distant memory. I wanted a way that I could look back and relive the adventure. This desire to relive the adventure, turned into a NEED to relive a meal, a dish, a singular bite.
I LOVE how food has the power to transport you back to another country, to a family meal filled with unstoppable laughter, to an all night birthday celebration with your favorites. My dearest memories are all tied to meal, the flavors and experiences, equally unforgettable. Food brings people together in the most unique way, everyone has a favorite spot, a must eat, or can't live without. It is absolutely the best conversation starter and awkward moment mitigator.
From the local ice cream shop in Sacramento, to the flakiest croissant imaginable in the suburbs of Australia, to ordering Michelin star ramen from a vending machine in Japan - Here begins the adventures of an ordinary girl eating extraordinary food across the globe...
