Ohh dumplings...paper thin dough, stuffed with a variety of meat and/ or vegetable goodness, and fits perfectly in your mouth in one scrumptious bite. They can be steamed, fried, dipped in sauce, floating in soup, or sautéed in wok. Delicious. Every. Single. Time.
So where did these dumplings come from? Somewhere far, far, away, a long, long, time ago, someone... Seriously, I have no idea. But, what I do know, is Din Tai Fung makes THE MOST AMAZING soup dumplings!
Din Tai Fung was founded in 1958 as a cooking oil retail business and in 1972 reborn as steamed dumpling and noodle house - Check out these details. You can even watch the dumplings be made by hand though the windows of the restaurants! It's like watching a well-oiled machine produce identical dumplings in record speed with the most intricate details. So freaking cool!

Needless to say, my LOVE for dumplings made the original Din Tai Fung an absolute MUST stop on our trip to Taiwan.
There are several locations in Taiwan, so make sure to hit up the first ever on Xinyi Road in Taipei. Every location I've been too tastes just as delicious as the last - but there is just something special about eating where it all started.
The menu goes on for pages, filled with pictures of an endless variety of dumplings, buns, xiaolongbaos, soups, and noodles. I WANT TO ORDER ALL OF IT.
Din Tai Fung is famous across the globe for - XIAOLONGBAOS - steamed soup dumplings served in a bamboo steaming basket. Each one is filled with meat and/ or mixed vegetables (green squash and shrimp xiolongbaos below) and paired with a vinegar ginger dipping sauce. The dumplings are meant to be eaten whole - with the first bite exploding soup throughout your mouth. It is basically like eating a bowl of soup in a single bite. #magical

Din Tai Fung has locations across 13 countries - though I've only eaten in two locations, I can say consistency is spot on!
The xiaolongbaos tasted the exact same in the US as they do in Taiwan. AMAZING. If you haven't tried these xiaolongboas, definitely add them to your #bucketlist and let me know how you enjoyed them!
